Jan 18, Rishi rated it really liked it Shelves: Should I be putting a textbook in this list? I'm not sure. What I can say, however, is that I've spent the last few days flying through this book, which somehow manages to resemble a children's colouring book and still cover everything you could possibly need to know about ECGs as a medical student. Recommended as a gentle introduction or re-introduction in my case to ECGs.

Also the paper quality is crazy heavy. Every page is full-color glossy, almost magazine-cover thickness. Jul 24, Emily rated it it was amazing. This was a simple yet very helpful instructional guide to reading and understanding EKGs. I'd definitely recommend this to medical students or other health professionals who need a guide that takes them through the basics and a little bit beyond. Feb 06, Sina Homayooni rated it it was amazing.

I'm giving it a 5 because it was everything I expected from a book with such a title. An efficient and easy read to interpret EKGs for whoever that's just interested what Electrocardiograms are about! Strongly recommended for med students!

Jul 25, Britta rated it it was amazing. This book is, so far, amazingly easy to understand. Reading EKG strips has confounded me until I picked up this book. What can I say, it is an amazing book.

May 05, James Pinola rated it it was amazing. Very easy to follow, love the analogies, pictures, etc. Aug 05, Paul Rockswold rated it it was amazing. Clearly written, covering principals concisely. Good for the neophyte and good review for those who have been around a while. Jan 18, Wissal rated it it was amazing. I took an initial first pass and reviewed the EKG. I made a mental note of characteristics such as biphasic T waves, Q waves, and flipped T waves.

At EKGs per day and a few days off throughout your review, this will take about months.

Read it like a book and be deliberate. Take what is being described in the text and identify the characteristics in the EKG. There are two kinds of notecards. Type 1 is simply taking an important point and writing it on the front of the note card. Nothing on the back. No flipping. Type 1 notecard For Type 2 notecards, a statement or question is written on the front and an answer or explanation is written on the back.

These are meant to be flipped. Yes, fun. Because the knowledge you are gaining is practical. During your next shift in the emergency department or rounding on floors, you are going to recognize more and more of what you are learning everyday.

Your confidence is going to increase. But this course is not over yet if you want to truly be confident at EKG interpretation. The remaining area to master is rhythm interpretation.

In my experience, most EKG discussions — where the EKG gets passed around from one person to another — is when a rhythm is trying to be identified.
